During the Sunday morning service there is usually a Junior Church Time, after
the first hymn, when the young people are invited to gather at the front of the Church and the theme is set for the worship
that day. After the second hymn the children join their leaders to explore this theme their various Junior Church groups.
For pre-school and junior primary school children (ages 3 to 6 years) there
is the Explorers group, taking place in the Chapel, with leaders Sonia McLelland and Linda McCreath with
help from Linda Mathers. Here young children experience their first “church time”. This is done through
an introduction to the bible and to Jesus, through story time and simple songs, prayers and craft-time.
The Quest group, ages 7 to 11, meet in the Church Hall. They are now starting
to be more questioning and want to learn a bit more behind the actual bible stories. Dawn Florence and Olive Duncan lead the
group through the weekly “Mystery Box” slot and usually a game or drama. Emphasis is on serious fun and activity
and the occasional song or video.
For those of Secondary School age, Focus
meets in the Gallery. Biff Barrow and Gwen Beange share the lead, where drama, discussion and debate reflect
the style of the session. This group are keen to take on responsibility for small projects.
