At the Sunday morning service there is usually a Junior Church Time after the first hymn when the young people
are invited to gather at the front of the Church and the theme is set for the worship that day. After the second hymn the
children go out with their leaders to the different Junior Church groups.
For children of pre-school ages 3 to 5 there is Beginners – currently meeting in the
Library with leaders Margaret Ross & Elsie McRae, young children experience their first “church time”. This
is done through an introduction to the bible and to Jesus, through story time and simple songs and prayers
In the Chapel - Explorers for ages 5 to 7 caters for the junior Primary school. Sonia Mclelland
and Linda Mathers work together listening to the children’s news, telling the bible stories and sharing a craft-time.
The Quest group – ages 8 to 11 and meet up in the Church Hall. They are now starting
to be more questioning and want to learn a bit more behind the actual bible stories. Hilary Sylvester-Evans and Chris Gardner
lead the group through the weekly “Mystery Box” slot. and usually a game or drama. Emphasis is on serious fun
and activity and the occasional song or video.
For those of Secondary School age, Focus meets in the Gallery and Drama, Discussion and Debate
reflect the style of the session. Biff Barrow, Gwen Beange and Valerie Findlay share the lead but the group are keen to take
on responsibility for small projects.
