Service times and location
Our regular worship services are held every Sunday at 11 am at the West Church, which sits on the West High Street in the centre of Inverurie.
The exception is during the months of July and August when we share worship with the congregation of Inverurie St Andrew’s. Summer worship is at 10 am with one month at the West church (usually July) and one month at St Andrew’s (usually August).
Occasionally we share worship with St Andrew’s at other times of year - for example if one of our ministers is on holiday. If this happens we give as much notice as possible.
Service content and style
We are a presbyterian church and our order of worship follows a similar structure to churches within this family. A typical service at the West these days is about 45-50 minutes long. We begin with welcome and a call to worship, followed by a mix of hymns and songs; a bible reading; a sermon or reflection; and a couple of prayers. We usually finish by saying together a prayer known as ‘The Grace’ and then our minister pronounces a few words of blessing.
We sing a mix of traditional and modern hymns and the tone of services is relaxed.
Our services are all live streamed so you can also join online live or catch up later in the week.
After most services there is tea and coffee on offer downstairs in our hospitality area. On the last Sunday of most months, we hold an informal communion after the service instead of teas and coffees, to which all are welcome.
A full communion service is held twice a year on the last Sundays of April and `October. We also have a very informal child-friendly communion in the afternoon on those dates.
Most weeks during the school terms we run a junior church for children. This begins partway through the main service.
Each week we produce an order of service which is posted on Facebook and on the website by Saturday. This contains details of the Sunday service as well as announcements or notices.
